Itchin' to Redecorate.
While I was at K’s dad’s house the other night, I spent time in two different bathrooms (such is life with a new potty trainer!) and it was weird being in these rooms that I painted and decorated - years ago!
I did Kayley’s bathroom in a Powerpuff Girls theme, because she was obsessed with them at that time. I painted a huge Blossom on one wall holding a giant toothbrush, and on the opposite wall, I painted a big clawfoot tub with Blossom, Bubbles, Buttercup, and their cat. And on the ceiling over the tub, I painted Bubbles and Octie, so Kayley would have something to focus on while I was rinsing her hair. I was so damned proud of that bathroom!! It looked amazing. Now, it’s looking a little tired around the edges.
In the powder room, I did the walls in a sort of aqua color with a faux finish, and I put up a border with butterflies in it. I had matching accessories, and I painted the mirror with glass paint - I did a checkerboard pattern all around the mirror, with butterflies and crescent moons and stuff. And I loved it, too.
It makes me wonder if Troy HATES it, because I would think it would remind him very much of me!! I guess not, because he hasn’t painted over anything in the nearly five years that I’ve been gone. It sort of bums me out that Kayley’s still living with the Powerpuff girls all over the bathroom, now that she’s past that. I guess if that’s the worst thing going on in her world, we’re doing well! But it’s making me SERIOUSLY want to redo the kids’ bathroom over here. We currently have it in a rubber ducky theme, but I’m SO over it. Especially because the walls are still builder white. Blah!!
I’m really leaning toward doing Spongebob. Kayley loves Spongebob, and Pablo really adores Spongebob. Not so much the cartoon, but the character himself. Pablo has Spongebob slippers that he rarely takes off, and a big Spongebob pillow in his bed that he hugs and loves on all the time. And, it’s one of the few words that he can say - even if it comes out as “Buh-Bob” - so I think he’d love it. Actually, I think all the kids would love it. So I might do that.
