Mailboxes
I went to a meeting the other night for my twin club, which was held at someone's house about ten billion miles away from me. So, it was kind of a long drive. On the way there, I had to go through a bunch of different neighborhoods, and they ranged from old and run down to pretty new and ritzy. And you know what I noticed in the newer areas? They don't have the bank of mailboxes at the curb, apartment style, like we do. I hate looking at all those commercial mailboxes scattered throughout the neighborhood, and I REALLY hate having to drive somewhere to get my mail!
I wonder why the trend for apartment style residential mailboxes in newer areas is starting to go away? Or do I just live in the hood and I don't realize it? Ha! I'm so envious of those whose mailboxes are right at the end of their driveway. Obviously, I appreciate the security of the big, locked mailbox - but I don't think they put them out there for MY benefit. I think the mail carriers just don't want to have to visit every single house! They'd much rather just stop once every few blocks, I'm sure.
And speaking of mailboxes and letter carriers and the mail and all of that stuff - for about a week or so, I kept noticing this bright fluorescent pink SOMETHING dripping inside my mailbox! I have no idea what that's all about. Did somebody tag our box with graffiti, and the city came by with a power washer and washed it off? And now what's left of it is running into our mailboxes? If so, that sucks! Tag the back of the box next time, Holmes! I had to get the baby wipes out of the van and clean the whole inside of my mailbox, and then MY WHOLE FOREARM too. Yuck!
